PO Box 10646 Kansas City, MO 64188-0646 Nov 2001
Welcome to all of the new families that have moved into the neighborhood over the last year! Involvement in your community is very important to the success of the Association. The easiest way to be involved is simply attend the meetings which are held every 2nd Sunday of the month at 7:00pm at the clubhouse. Your attendance, opinions and input are the backbone of our community. We hope this newsletter offers some helpful information for our 261 homeowners.
CLUBHOUSE...The clubhouse has undergone some much needed repairs and updating this past summer and is available for rent. There are plenty of dates still open for holiday rentals. The rental fee is $50.00 plus a $100.00 deposit. The deposit is refunded if the clubhouse clean up is acceptable. The 1970's style was remodeled and looks wonderful. Much care is being taken to ensure that the interior remains in good condition. There are tentative plans to update the exterior next summer. Bids for this renovation can be addressed to Bob Kopp 734-8446. Contact your new clubhouse manager, Lori Reichert for rental information and reservations. Her telephone number is 734-8667.
BLOCKWATCH...Once again we are begging for volunteers to reorganize our Blockwatch program for the coming year. This is a very important program for increasing security awareness in our neighborhood. We can all agree that crime in the Northland has risen and neighbors looking out for each other's property is essential to keeping security and property value safe! Please contact Jocelyn Keith at 734-5760 for more information regarding Blockwatch help.
POOL...Our 2001 pool season was successful with no major incidents or accidents. We hope that our pool added to your summer fun. The "pool key check procedure" that we implemented this year kept non-members out of our pool which in turn freed more chairs, gained pool space, and provided a more relaxing atmosphere for our homeowners. Remember this procedure next summer as the guards will continue to enforce "members only" rules. Pool keys are a valuable commodity-when you receive your new key in the Spring put it in a safe place and keep up with it while enjoying the pool. The pool deck is in need of some new furniture. If you know of any leads to buy, or can offer the Association a discount on this furniture, please contact Steve Flamez 734-7094. Also, bids are now being taken for management for the 2002 season. Submit these to Steve Flamez.
GARAGE SALE...Thank you to Stephanie Hummel for organizing our neighborhood Fall garage sale!!! Thanks also to Terri Bigham for underwriting part of the costs of sale promotion. Keep in mind a spring garage sale will be held also, so stash away any items that could bring you MONEY next Spring. Stephanie was also instrumental in featuring our New Mark community on Channel 9. In the aftermath of Sept. 11th, she created "ties that bind America" to pull our community together and support our nation by recruiting volunteers to tie yellow ribbons on trees that line many of our streets as a reminder to everyone that we are united
GROUNDS... We had volunteers clean up the spillway to the lake twice this year. It was necessary to pay to have the spillway cleaned two additional times because we did not have enough volunteers to continue to do this. If you are interested in assisting in any grounds-related projects in the future, please contact Mark Reichert 734-8667.
WEB SITE...New Mark officially has its very own web site! The address is: www.nni.org/NewMark. This site includes information about our neighborhood including restrictions and any upcoming events that affect our community. Please check the site often. Since we are now online, you will be able to pull up newsletters along with any information that before required a timely and costly mailing. If you have any questions, comments or possible additions to the site, contact Eugene Gruhler 734-9547.
RESTRICTIONS...Included in this newsletter is a "Violation of Restrictions" form. If you are reporting a violation, this form MUST be completed and the complainant MUST attend an Association meeting to discuss the alleged violation in detail. As a reminder, boats, non-operational vehicles, and trailers are not to be stored on our property. For more information, contact Eugene Gruhler 734-9547.
DUES...THANK YOU to the 260 homes (out of 261 homes) that paid their 2001 Homes Association dues. Your support of our neighborhood helps to keep your home value up and the association running smoothly. Legal action is being taken against the one homeowner that is unpaid to date.
ANNUAL MEETING...Is set for Monday, December 10th at 7:00pm. Sign-in begins at 6:30pm. Please mark this on your calendar-we hope to have high participation to discuss financial issues and elect several new board members for 2002. If you are interested in committing approx. 2 hours a month as an association member, contact Kevin Keith 734-5760. You do not have to have special training or expertise to be a board member-just a concerned homeowner who wants to take part in keeping our community alive and home values up.
